The northern spotted owl is a pacific north west species on the brink of extinction due to logging and the resulting  habitat loss. In this installation, a hidden speaker plays a pure data patch that encodes genomic information from the norther spotted owl sound. An Arduino detects the presence of a listener in its vicinity. When a listener is detected, recordings of logging noise drown out the song of the owl. When the listener leaves, the song of the owl returns.
